Training a Group of Palestinian Youth on Planning and Leading Humanitarian Action

ttt2222

Tanzania -ActionAid Palestine in partnership with unit of Humanitarian and Resilience program in ActionAid International organized a special training for a group of Palestinian Youth on “Planning and Leading Humanitarian Action”. It aimed at promoting the role of youth in holding actors accountable for their performances in humanitarian actions during times of emergencies and crisis actions at national, regional, and international levels to create comprehensive and diverse systems.

The training was conducted in Tanzania where young people from Gaza and West Bank can meet in one place to exchange ideas and overcome borders and movement restrictions imposed by Israeli occupation separating Gaza from West Bank and making connection between residents of Gaza and Wes Bank impossible.

12 young women and men received in -depth analysis and knowledge on issues of components of humanitarian actions.  Youth are targeted in this kind of trainings because they constitute a part of affected populations, and they are familiar with the needs of their community and thus are often first responders in humanitarian crises.

The training included ActionAid ‘s approach in humanitarian action, building alliances and networks and humanitarian advocacy and lobbying.

It is worth mentioning that this global Humanitarian program is part of AAP’s program of “Strengthening Palestinian young people, Particularly Young Women’s Leadership and Influence for Resilient, Just and Green Societies” that AAP started implementing during 2022 within Strategic Partnership 2 with ActionAid Denmark and it is funded by the Danish International Development Agency (DANIDA). The outcomes of this training will be developing an action plan of the program during upcoming three years. They also include empowering youth in highlighting the specific needs of different groups and people and to work with government officers to set criteria for services relating to each group.  This training illustrates ActionAid’s strategy to support capacity and resilience of youth to address current issues and equip them with required skills and knowledge to be able to respond to new shocks.
