ActionAid Palestine to Promote Breast Cancer Raising Awareness During Pink Month

ActionAid Palestine organized breast cancer awareness session  and  breast self-examination techniques for women of the old city of Hebron H2 to raise their awareness on breast cancer during October. This month  has been designated as the Pink Month  where efforts to educate those concerned about the disease, including early identification and signs and symptoms associated with breast cancer.

Those activities were organized in  the hall of Hebron Governorate  in partnership with Palestinian Family Planning and Protection Association, Women department in Hebron Governorate and Palestinian Medical Relief.

Raising awareness of women  about Breast cancer is one of the activities of “ Valiance “Basala”: Empowering women in Old Hebron City”.40 women from ActionAid Palestine women groups were educated today by specialist doctor about the importance of getting screened for breast cancer and we breast self-examination techniques. They received free early medical checks and they were provided with information and medical instructions .

AAP seeks through its women programme to raise awareness of women about legal and health issues. It also focuses on organizing advocacy and raising awareness campaigns in different fields to advocate for  women’s rights, strengthen their resilience and ensure that they enjoy decent and healthy life under protection threats in the old city of Hebron and other parts of the south of West Bank.  

Dalal Da’ana who is one of the women who received free early medical check said: “ I was afraid before doing early medical check but I have overcome that fear. Thanks for ActionAid Palestine for its continuous work in educating us about health and legal issues as women working and living inside the old city of Hebron facing many human rights violations on daily basis”.

Samar Abu Snenah (39 years old) says: “ I benefited a lot from raising awareness session organized by AAP this session encouraged us to do early medical check and train us on self-examination techniques . Thank for AAP that allows us to participate and benefit from different activities that assist us to overcome many challenges we face in the old city of Hebron”
