ActionAid Palestine and Directorate of Education in South of Hebron to Organize Marathon for Student in Karmeh School

ActionAid Palestine (AAP) ‘s program of Child sponsorship” in partnership with Education Directorate in the south of Hebron Governorate and unit of ambulance of Palestinian Red Crescent Society organized marathon. This marathon targeted students of Karmeh school located in the south of West Bank. It aimed to promote health practices and sport among children encouraging them to practice sport regularly.

This was marathon was organized with adherence to Covid-19 Pandemic safety measures. It was attended by representatives of Directorate of Education, teaching staff of the school and AAP.  

More than 75 children aged from 8-12 years old participated in this marathon. At the end of marthon, the winners were awarded medals and cups. 

AAP’s program of Child Sponsorship implements this kind of entertainment activities to promote the growth and welfare of the child and improve the school environment in the marginalized areas that suffer from protection threats as demolition and settlers’ violence.

Through its program of “Child Sponsorship”, ActionAid Palestine works in partnership in with the Palestinian ministry of education and other local partners to support online education, enhance the infrastructure of Palestinian schools in the governorate of Hebron. AAP also supports recreational relief-psychological support activities to improve the welfare of children and educational environmental. AAP works in Gaza with local partners to provide children and their mothers with psychological -social support.

AAP started its work in Palestine in 2007 to strengthen the resilience of Palestinian People as ActionAid believes that they should enjoy their rights to freedom, justice and self-determination. AAP implements a number of programs through its engagement with communities and women and youth groups seeking to empower them and enhance their influential civil and political participation to understand their rights and undertake collective activism to address the protracted rights violations resulting from the prolonged occupation of Palestine. AAP works simultaneously to enhance their leadership capacity and knowledge to practice their citizenship in holding authorities and other duty bearers to account.
