INTERNISA Project in Palestine to Promote digital skills of women working in the textile sector

Hebron - West Bank - ActionAid Palestine (AAP) organized a special training in digitalizing the textile sector and introducing recent digital environments. This training sought to Promote the digital skills of 30 women working in textile sector in the governorates of Hebron and Bethlehem during and after the COVID-19 crisis. It is also part of the activities of INTERNISA project which AAP has recently started implementing it. INTERNISA project is a network of Synergies to increase the number of digitally skilled women employed in the ENI CBC MED Territories via matching demand and supply in the Labor Market. INTERNISA project is funded by Cross Border Cooperation (CBC).

This training has lasted for five days, during which the trainees were introduced to how to transform the textile industry from traditional tools to smart machines, the difficulties facing the introduction of digital textile machines, and the effects of technological development and digitization on textile products. This training also included a display of pictures of the modern and digital machines used and an explanation of their uses and outputs, in addition to a display of the digital machines used in textile factories in Palestine. The training offered the trainees the opportunity to introduced to the software used in textile industry and its functions, trained on modern and digital textile software, its benefits and requirements, and a presentation of the most important social networking sites and groups related to textile industry.

The importance of training is to enable young women to keep pace with the progress surrounding them and to enable them to use modern digital tools for marketing and promoting their ideas and projects in light of the digital revolution and the system of remote work that has increased in importance during the COVID-19 crisis. The training also built the capacities and skills of trainees in the field of e-marketing through social media for sewing and embroidery products, brand making and design to distinguish their products and the basics of design, marketing via phones and smart boards, and stimulating innovation to ensure their empowerment and preparation for the labor market. The training also included a practical application by the trainees to make presentations and a quick visit to two factories that use digital machines in the textile industry in Bethlehem Governorate.

The participants learned about how to create and enrich marketing content in various digital marketing platforms.

INTERNISA project seeks to bridge the gender digital gap and provide women with marketable digital skills and qualify skilled labors according to the needs of labor market. The project will increase the efficiency and relevance of education and professional training to the labor market by combining digital skills in the digital sector with professional development in the agri-food, textile, tourism, and financial sectors.
