ActionAid Palestine to Distribute Hygiene Kits to School children in Yatta Area

Hebron-West Bank-ActionAid Palestine (AAP) distributed hygiene kits to 942 children in elementary classes in a few schools in communities of Al Bwaib, ArRifaiyya and Umm Lasafa in Yatta area in Hebron governorate in the south of West Bank. Distributing those kits aims to improve sanitation health and school environment. This activity is part of the joint project “Protection, Water, Health and hygienic Health for vulnerable population in Area “C” AAP implements with CESVI and funded by Italian Agency for Development and Cooperation. Those kits were distributed in cooperation and coordination with the Directorate of Education in Yatta in the presence of some of its staff and some of AAP’s staff members.

The hygiene kits consist of hygiene items, sanitizer, shampoo, toothpaste, toothbrush, nail clipper, shower loafs, school bags and reusable water bottles. Distributing hygiene kits aims to raise awareness of school students about the basic principles of sanitation and best health practices they should follow including hand washing before and after eating, hygiene body and teeth care to protect their health and health growth at this stage of their life which is important in building personal practices and cultivating thoughts and ideas. Those kits contribute to improving the level of hygiene and motivating teaching staff to raise awareness of their students about importance of schools hygiene and sanitation to create safe and health educational environment.         

The project “Protection, Water, Health, and Hygienic Health for Vulnerable population in Area “C” seeks to enhance access to safe water to families, communities, schools and community organizations. It also aims to improve intervention and responses in the fields of health and sanitation. The project targeted the residents of area “C” as they are the most exposed to violations of human rights and international law.
