ActionAid Palestine to Organize Cyber Security Training for Youth
Bethlehem – Occupied Palestinian Territories – The Global Platform Palestine of ActionAid Palestine (AAP), has concluded a training program on digital security in collaboration with 7amleh – The Arab Center for the Advancement of social media.
The training targeted 19 young people from various governorates of the West Bank. It lasted for three days, in the platform’s headquarters in Bethlehem.
This training aims to enhance digital awareness among youth and equip them with the necessary tools to protect their personal data and online security, especially during emergency situations.
The training program covered several key topics, including the concept of information security. Participants were trained on the best practices, tools, and measures used to protect systems, data, and networks from various cyber threats, as well as internal threats and how to prevent them. They were introduced to the policies governing them along with their potential consequences.
Additionally, the training addressed cyberattacks by presenting real-life examples, discussing attack methods and their impacts, and exploring the defense strategies used to counter them.
The training also covered the security of social media platforms and user accounts, safe browsing methods on the internet, as well as mobile security and the importance of protecting data stored on smartphones and laptops.
Additionally, it addressed how to secure WiFi networks and avoid the risks associated with connecting to public WiFi hotspots.
The training also addressed social engineering and cyber threats, where participants learned about the techniques hackers use to exploit personal information and how to prevent such attacks. Additionally, the role of artificial intelligence in cybersecurity was discussed, along with the best approaches to dealing with blackmailers and hackers, and the relevant authorities to contact when facing such threats.
The program also explored the impact of technology on human behavior and psychological well-being, as well as safe digital interactions.
The training employed a variety of educational methods, including presentations, interactive videos, hands-on exercises, real-life simulations, and educational games using the Kahoot platform to maximize participant engagement and learning.
Participants expressed their satisfaction towards the training, highlighting the valuable knowledge and skills they gained.
