West Bank -Hebron- Through its programme of “Civil and Democratic Participation of Palestinian Youth”, ActionAid Palestine (AAP) continued implementing its emergency interventions and joining national Palestinian efforts to respond to the spread of COVID-19. This response provided 1000 needy families living in 16 communities in the marginalized areas in the governorates of Hebron, Bethlehem, and Jordan Valleys with food parcels. This response aims to strengthen the resilience of those families, enhance their food security, and build their capacities to combat this pandemic.

This response targeted the poor families headed by women and have persons with disabilities and families that lost their livelihoods. This response aimed to mitigate the multifaceted economic and social effects of this crisis on them.

AAP targeted aforementioned areas through its emergency interventions as they since have witnessed a significant surge in the number of cases by comparison with other Palestinian cities according to the Palestinian ministry of health. AAP has implemented this intervention in cooperation and coordination with governorates of Bethlehem and Hebron, ministry of Social Development, local and municipal councils, public committees for services in refugee camps and sub-national emergency committees in those areas. Youth groups led the design and implementation of those interventions with the participation of Alternative Information Center (AIC).

This response is one in a series of interventions AAP has implemented after the state of emergency had been declared in oPt in March.
