ActionAid Palestine to Organize Training on “Small Business Management for women in Hebron Governorate

Hebron – Occupied Palestinian Territory
ActionAid Palestine(APP) has concluded a specialized training program titled with “Small Business Management and Feasibility Studies”, targeting women and girls from the Old City of Hebron. The training aimed to enhance their economic and managerial capacities as part of the project “Valiance – Basala -Empowering Women in the Old City of Hebron”, funded by the Australian Department of Foreign Affairs and Trade (DFAT).

A total of 29 participants took part in the training, including women, girls, and three women with disabilities – all of whom aspire to establish and manage their own small businesses. The training responds to the growing need for women’s economic empowerment in marginalized areas, supporting their efforts toward achieving financial independence and active community engagement.

The program focused on building participants’ knowledge and skills in launching and managing small enterprises, including essential competencies in project planning, feasibility studies, financial and administrative management, marketing strategies, and legal frameworks. In addition, the training enhanced personal capacities in leadership, communication, teamwork, time management, market analysis, and understanding target group needs.

The training lasted for  six days, with a total of 35 training hours, and combined theoretical and practical components. Participants developed actionable project proposals based on sound feasibility principles, tailored to the local economic and social context. The program also included interactive discussions on the challenges facing women entrepreneurs in Palestinian society, emphasizing the importance of work-life balance on personal, professional, and familial levels.

Participants expressed their appreciation for the quality and structure of the training, highlighting its role in boosting their self-confidence, refining their leadership skills, and helping them overcome personal barriers. They also emphasized the practical value of the training in equipping them with the tools necessary to develop viable and impactful business initiatives.

This training is part of the broader “Valiance – Basala -” project, which seeks to empower women in the Old City of Hebron by enhancing their economic participation and access to productive resources, particularly in agriculture and livestock sectors. The project also addresses the structural causes of gender-based discrimination and violence through collective efforts to analyze the social and economic contexts that shape women’s lives.
